A lifelong resident of Illinois, Jim’s 80 years of life were marked by a love of family and a deep appreciation for the everyday moments that make life meaningful. He believed that every day had a story worth remembering and faithfully kept a journal of notes later in life to “remember when”. Those notes captured not only milestones, but also simple joys, amusing reflections, and cherished memories.
One of the most treasured chapters of his life began in Amsterdam, where he purchased a diamond ring to propose to the love of his life, Cheryl. With a wedding day that included two different ceremonies at two different churches, they set out on a course devoted to each other. Together, they created a lifetime of memories, supporting one another through every season of life.
Jim loved being a husband, father, and “Jimpa”. His free time was spent with those closest to him whether it was a simple family gathering or out on the waters of Lake Michigan. He is reunited with Cheryl and their late son, Devin, and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Born on August 18, 1945, in Chicago to the late Chester and the late Virginia Parks; Jim was the beloved husband of the late Cheryl Parks. Cherished father of Justen (Eileen) Parks and the late Devin Parks; adored “Jimpa” of Tyler Parks; and fond brother of the late Kenneth (Kathie) Parks and the late Chester “Cork” Parks.
