James E. Schachte

James E. Schachte was born on June 6, 1937 in Chicago to Everett and Mary Rose (nee Johnson) Schachte. He died Thursday, August 10, 2017 in Arlington Heights.

Mr. Schachte worked as a Manager of Systems Projects for Zenith Electronics Corporation in Chicago. James had a passion for history and science, loved jazz and classical music, and enjoyed electronics. He loved to spend time with his family and was loved by all.

James is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Virginia (nee Zieserl); children, Kathleen (John) Jensen, Timothy (Marianne) Schachte, Michael (Susan Holliefield) Schachte, Laura (Eric) Swanson, and Christine (John Parlich) Schachte; grandchildren, Jenna (John) Zimmerman, Kristin (Jose) Bucio, Steven Ahlman, Jessica (Jarin) Bjerke, Kelly Ahlman, Kevin Jensen, Erika Swanson, Ryan Schachte, Kirk Swanson, Karl Swanson, Alyssa Parlich, and Hallie Swanson; siblings, Rosemary (Noreen Rapp) Schachte, Donald (Barbara) Schachte, Thomas Schachte, Sue (Steve) Boswick, John Schachte, David (Dawn) Schachte and Reed (Ann Marie) Schachte; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation Friday, August 18, 2017 from 11:00 am until the 2:45 pm Memorial Prayer Service at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment is private.
