Jane Schoepke was born on Dec 11, 1928. She grew up as an only child, in Chicago and attended St. Genevieve Grammar School and Notre Dame High School. She spent her childhood making memories with her cousin and best friend, Wally, who was like a brother to her. As a young women, she worked as secretary at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. She also worked as a holiday window dresser for Marshal Fields and Co. She met Richard Schoepke at a dance at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. He swept her off her feet and they were married on Feb 3, 1951. As a homemaker, she raised nine children in Arlington Heights.
Jane was a loving and nurturing mother. The strength of her life was rooted and grounded by her love, faith, and trust in God. She lived a life marked by her godly example which impacted everyone who knew her. She was an amazing, loyal, self-sacrificing wife, mother and friend. Jane enjoyed fishing, traveling, golfing, bowling, and gardening. She was an active senior club member of the Arlington Heights Park District, but her greatest joy was in raising her children and being with family. She will be particularly remembered for the way she would celebrate the small and big moments in life. She made holidays and birthdays a magical experience, filled with warmth and love. The traditions she began will be carried on for generations. She will be greatly missed.
Jane knew that this life at 94, though well lived, was short in comparison to eternity with Jesus. “So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
Jane is survived by seven of her nine children: Daniel Schoepke (Frances), Patricia Henderson, Geri Hill (Jeff), Mary Benner (Ron), Mark Schoepke (Gail), Eileen Arosen (Randy) and Kevin Schoepke (Molly). She leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Schoepke and her parents Frank and Eleanor Einweck, two of her children, Jeffrey Schoepke and Ellen Schoepke, and two grandchildren, Richard W. Schoepke, and Joseph Schoepke.
