Janeen Evelyn Ross

Janeen Evelyn Ross was born on July 4, 1935 in Chicago to Joseph and Mildred ( Wetzel) Ross. She died Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in Hoffman Estates.

Ms. Ross worked as an administrative assistant for Zurich Insurance for 6 years. Janeen was involved with the family business Griebel & Son Wholesale Meats in Park Ridge. She was a member of SAS and Arlington Club 50. Janeen loved to volunteer for any PGA or LPGA event that was in the Chicagoland Area. She was the founding director of the Northwest Suburban Swimming Association. Janeen spent years organizing, officiating, and timing at her children’s swimming events as well as co-directing the 1972 Olympic Diving Trials in Park Ridge, Illinois. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Janeen was not afraid of a challenge and took up downhill skiing at the age of 50. On her 75th birthday she had to waterski one more time! Janeen loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was rarely a time she was not spectating and cheering them on. She was loved by all.

Janeen is survived by her children, Daniel (Karen) Griebel, Donna Bradley, and Dianne (Brett) Carney; grandchildren, Lauren (Michael) Garcia, Danielle (Matthew) Hodges, Keegan Griebel, Whitney Bradley, William Bradley, Wyatt Bradley, Alexandra Carney and Annah Carney; great-grandchildren, Jayden Bradley, Dominic Bradley, Kelly Garcia, Lucy Garcia, Emily Garcia and Colton Hodges; siblings, Joanne (the late Ronald) Tardiff and Michael (Nancy) Ross; many nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 am Friday, July 2, 2021 at St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
