Janet Fischer was born September 4,1940 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Clinton & Elsie Ihde. She was called home on December 10, 2021.
Janet was devoted to her church and family. She is survived by her children, Tim (Rosie) Fischer, and Tracey (Grant) Gustke; her grandchildren, Matthew Fischer, Alyson “Aly”, and Jackson “Jack” Gustke; and her sibling, Jean Neumann. Janet is preceded in death by her husband George J. Fischer.
Janet will be forever remembered as a loving Christian daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She began a career as a legal secretary and then in church ministry for 40 years at St Peter’s Lutheran Church & school. She was dedicated to serving her Lord and Savior. Janet loved traveling on mission trips and with her friends and family. She loved volunteering with Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort dogs. She served faithfully on St. Peter’s board of Directors, and as a member of the Arlington Heights Historical Society. Janet was also active in her church choir, enjoyed bible studies, and playing cards. She was passionate about hiking, bird watching and camping with George.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., (four blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights and from 10:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 20, 2021, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights. Interment is at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church or to Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry, 3020 Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook, IL 60062, LutheranChurchCharities.org.
