

Janet Johnsonof Elgin, ILJanet Johnson was born May 2, 1955 in Philipp, MS to the late Fred and Mary Johnson. She submitted herself to the Will of God, becoming boundless, formless, limitless, fearless and free on October 8, 2016 with family surrounding her.Janet was an exceedingly strong faithful member of God"s word. She was the spiritual warrior of her family. She marveled at nature, adored Eagles and had a love for reading books on many subjects, especially spiritual, and different genres of music.Early in her life, Janet met and married her childhood sweetheart Michael McQueen. In 1971 after the birth of their daughter Tabitha Denise McQueen, they moved to Washington, DC. Later Janet joined her sisters to live in Chicago, IL where she eventually met and married her second love, Luther Curtis. Through their union they had two children Tamiko Vosha Curtis and Jarrett LeVar Curtis.Janet began her work career as an undercover security guard at Ventures Department Store in Chicago and was the beautiful "Black Charlie"s Angel." She had a natural gift of helping young women, in particular teenage mothers, which led to her purpose and career in Social Work at Bethel New Life in Chicago, IL.She had a passion for fashion and everything fabulous and walked gracefully in high heel shoes and matching hats. Janet"s beauty was so captivating that she started modelling. Not only was her outer beauty radiating, but her love was unconditional and given freely radiating through everyone she encountered. She was connected with many church organizations helping to minister to people throughout the United States.She now lives through and is survived by her children: Tabitha, Tamiko and Jarrett; ex husbands: Michael and Luther; grandchildren: Je"Quan, Diamond, Davion, De"Angelo and Tamia; siblings: Freddie Mae, Mattie Anne, James Douglas (Betty), Dorse (George) and Amelia Maxine (Junior); and a whole host of sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.The Celebration of Her Life (Funeral) Service: 1:00 pm, Sunday, October 16, 2016 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights, IL 60004." Family will receive guests for viewing (wake) from 11:00 am until time of Service."
