Janet “Mimi” Toton’s Eulogy 
 
Today we are honoring, celebrating, and remembering Janet “Mimi” Toton. It’s tragic to think about Janet leaving us too soon, but she left behind a lifetime of memories that we can celebrate. She was a woman of grace and courage, who grew to love the Lord so much in the last couple of years.

Eric and I are humbled by the challenge of describing the fullness of her beauty here today. Growing up was special because we got to have our mom always at home with us! I think the best word that could describe her in our childhood years (and still did until her last day) is nurturer. We got to enjoy many nightly back rubs which carried on to her grandkids! When we were sick, she would get her stockpile of essential oils and nurse us back to health! Just the other month she came to my house, as she did every single week, and helped take care of me and all my kids as the stomach bug went through our house, even though she knew she’d end up getting it too!
As all of you know, she loved people with her whole heart, without judgement.  When we were young, she would enjoy sparking up conversations with strangers, whether in lines at Six Flags or at a restaurant because someone had a good-looking meal, and it would often be so embarrassing! But the people she loved most of all was her husband and kids.  She swooned whenever we were all together in one place, I could hear her now pulling all three of us in together saying “my children, all together. I love this, I’m so proud of you all.”  She instilled in me how to be a great mom, and I got the genetic code of her amazing warm hugs. So, if any of you miss that I’ll share what I have! Charlie, her Buddy, has the same empathy and forgiveness toward others.  He also is just like her with the same creativity and love for drawing and doodling.  Her Mickey-Bell carries on her skills at tidying up and cleaning up after others.  She has mom’s compassion and spirituality.
The sting and pain are deep, BUT I have peace and comfort knowing she ended up trusting in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of her life.  

​I’ve always loved watching Janet adoring over her 5 grandchildren, who will always remember how much fun she was. She loved to play games. She would say “just one more game” at the end each time. She loved going to the cottage, enjoying her time away with her family. I’ll never forget the time I taught her how to clean and fillet a catfish and introduced her to her first southern style fish fry from fishing in the channel. I loved seeing how happy she got planting and gardening throughout the property. I’ll do my best to maintain that passion for her.  
She had a magical way of bringing joy every time she walked into the room. No one who met her could forget her smile or personality. She made an everlasting impact on everyone she met. She would go out of her way to help anyone she could. I’ll never forget the advice and the lessons she taught me. (Like the proper way to start the pontoon boat, the best ways to keep my garage organized, or reminding me Bill likes to use bottled water for the hummingbird feeder vs from the sink.) Her wisdom will forever guide the decisions we make through the rest of our lives. We love you, Mimi.

I would like to take this time for a short prayer and scripture reading.
“Father, this is a hard and challenging day for us all. We ask that you can fill our hearts with love and Joy, knowing that is what Janet would want for all of us. As we all are sad and grieving, let us remember to celebrate in the Lord that he added one more amazing woman to His kingdom.  We are grateful and full of joy knowing that she made heaven her home and is looking down on us on this day. God, we ask that You can be with each and everyone of us here. Give us strength to be able to move forward but always remember the great memories we shared with Mimi. Keep us in positive spirits and let us lean on each other during this difficult time. We don’t know why these things happen, but we do know You are in control. Through You we can be strong. We love You and we thank You for all You have done and will continue to do. We pray this in Jesus’s name.” “Amen.”

Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I have many great memories of you, we had many good times love , laughter you will be missed!!! Say hello to Mary Jane for me❤️and I pray for comfort to your immediate  family and your siblings🙏TO be absent from the body  is to be present  with the lord!! God has you under his wing🙏I GUESS HE NEEDED ANOTHER ANGEL😇  I HOPE TO SEE YOU IN HEAVEN UNTIL THEN.........

As a neighbor of Janet's for over 20 years I will miss her warmth and caring smile.  She provided me support in ways she probably never knew when I was caring for my mom. May you rest in the arms of our Lord.

To my Angel Aunt Janet, 

Your unexpected passing has given me the opportunity to reflect on our loving relationship. I will always hold our memories close to my heart. You have influenced me in ways you will never know. I will carry your teachings through the rest of my life and be sure to pass them on. From knowing how to kick butt in Rummikub to treating everyone with kindness and with a welcoming heart, you will be a part of me forever and continue to spread your light. I am happy to call you one of the brightest characters in my childhood. Your love towards me will forever be appreciated. I love you my Great Aunt Janet. Rest easy.

You are as beautiful now as you were when you stood up in our wedding- 40 years ago!  Your fun loving spirit and generous attitude towards everyone will be greatly missed. Once again this proves that the good die young. You will be forever in my heart

Janet could light up the room with her smile. She always went out of her way to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. She had a laugh that was contagious and a hug that made you feel warm. I remember she always opened her house to everyone and treated you like family. Janet,  I will cherish my memories with you and will always be grateful for our talks, laughs and special times.
