Mrs. Loiacono was one of the best teachers I had at OLW. In 2nd grade, I made it my goal to go from the middle reading class to the high reading class by the end of the year. I’ll never forget walking up to her desk to tell her about my goal. She had such a warm smile and was so encouraging. Her belief in me made me believe in myself. It was such a formative memory. That expression, “People won’t always remember what you say, but they’ll remember how you made them feel” is something that always comes to mind when I think of her. What a blessing she was to all of us who were lucky enough to have her. Prayers for the whole Loiacono family- I know she is already very missed!

Dear Annette, Karen, Michael, John, Mary Jean, Carol, James, Michael, Steven, and Family, 

As the Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus at Saint Viator High School, I offer you the sympathy and prayers of the Saint Viator/Sacred Heart of Mary community, as well as my own.

Our hearts go out to you as you begin your journey of grief.  Know that you are in our prayers as you share the stories...laugh and cry...and find ways to celebrate the life of your mother, your grandmother, and the love you shared.

As I read about how "Jean successfully balanced raising a family of seven children with her teaching career…impacting the lives of over 1,000 students across generations," I was reminded of an adaptation of a reading in the book of Sirach.  

“Let us praise an illustrious woman,
faithful to her family and friends, strong in her love.
At peace in her heart and her world,
she has left us her good name, and we recount her life of praiseworthy deeds.
A generous woman her good works will never be forgotten.
Among her family and friends remains a rich inheritance born of her….
Her name lives on from generation to generation.
We gather to sing her praises.
We proclaim her wisdom and love of life all our days.”

May God’s promise that life is changed, not ended, comfort you!
May the knowledge your mother, your grandmother, lives on in your goodness give you peace and hope!

Jean was my mom’s baby sister…I am going to miss her a lot, but I know Ralph, Bern and Jean are all together again!  Aunt Jean, you are loved so much by so many people!  God Speed!

I have known Jean for my whole life.  She was 17 when I was born and our families lived across the street from one another on Barry Avenue.  Our families had been friends for two generations before I came along.  My mom babysat Jean, she babysat me, and I babysat her children.  They were the siblings that I never had.  It was always wild crazy fun at the Loiacono house.  We spent Thanksgivings and Christmas Eves together until my family moved to California.  There were visits back and forth for weddings and vacations.  
As I married and started my own family, my kids loved being with Jean's family, sharing more great times.
 When my dad passed, and then my mom, Jean became the parent that I no longer had. 
Thanks, Jean, for all of the memories and for sharing your family.  Say hi to mom and dad for me.
