Jeanette Ann Kottra was born on September 17, 1940, in Chicago to Vincent and Agnes (nee Pijanoski) Rychlewski. She died Thursday, January 27, 2022, in Arlington Heights.

Jan worked as an administrative assistant for Allstate Insurance until the birth of her son. She eventually returned to the workforce and settled at Klees Electric in Wheeling for 16 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove and occupied a pew at the 7:30 am mass every Sunday. Jan was an avid gardener, ferocious reader, charming entertainer, and diehard Cubs fan! She loved hosting the holidays for her family members and gathering for barbecues on her deck with family and friends. Jan especially loved supporting her beloved grandchildren at their athletic and academic activities.

Jan is survived by her spouse of 61 years, Richard; son, Christopher (Jennifer) Kottra; grandchildren, Matthew, Lia, and Zachary; nieces and nephews, Susan Hauslein, Patricia (Mike) Calabrese, James (Betsy) Rychlewski, and Steven Rychlewski; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kelly (Robert) Fischer, Jason (Michelle) Hauslein, Morgan Calabrese, Mackenzie Calabrese, Michelle Calabrese, and Erik Rychlewski.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Vincent Rychlewski.

Visitation Monday, January 31, 2022, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers will be held 9:15 am, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the funeral home proceeding to St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 for a 10:00 am Funeral Mass. Interment is private.
