Mrs. Deppong was my 8th grade teacher, and although it has been 20 years since I graduated I will never forget her dedication to her students. She was a wonderful teacher and one of the reasons I decided to be a teacher. I hope I can inspire my students the same way she inspired me.

Had a lot of fun with Joan. Rarely agreed on a lot of things but always respected her view. Drank a lot of coffee with her in early morning conversations while everyone else was asleep. She was the “matriarch “ of a great family and her parents, immigrants, were special folks. RIP .Joan, you deserve it!

I was blessed to have her as a neighbor and friend. I loved listening to her share stories of all of her adventures. She was one of the most generous people I have ever known. From taking me to the Lyric Opera to supporting my kids in Scouts to sharing a watermelon and always being willing to host book club. She is so missed and loved. The neighborhood won’t be the same without her.

I was blessed to become part of Joan’s (Mom) family September 22, 1985 and for the last 12,312 days or 33 years, 8 months and 17 days she treated me as one of her own and allowed me to call her Mom.
She welcomed me to her large and still growing family and I am so blessed to have her in my life. She helped me in so many ways and so many times I lost count
I learned how important family is when she and Dick flew to Germany to meet me after asking her baby girl (Marlene) to marry me. I was blessed that she and Dick welcomed me to the family and the rest is history...her family continues to grow and her legacy will live forever.
She will forever be in my heart and I am honored to be part of her family.
I love you Mom...and will miss you more each day. Please give Opah & Omah a big hug from all of us and tell Opah I still have his level.
Thank you for all the love, patience and advice over the years. Will also miss your chicken goulash...
Love e you forever Mom and thank you for sharing your daughter...and allowing me to become part of your family.
PS. If Sam is up there - please tell him no hard feelings! LYFM ❤️

While we didn't know your mother, just looking at the family pictures show her love of life and family. God bless you all and know that she is with you always.
