Joan Clarice Hennings

Joan Hennings was born on August 7, 1935, in Chicago to Howard and Harriet (nee Frey) Slater. She died Friday, March 18, 2022, in Arlington Heights.

Mrs. Hennings worked as a Key Punch Operator for IBM in Chicago for 5 years where she met Bernie. She was a member of St. Mary Parish in Buffalo Grove. Joan loved her friends, bowling, Bingo and golf. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was loved by all.

Joan is survived by her spouse of 63 years, Bernard; children, Cynthia Malouf, Bernard (Susan) Hennings, Jeanne (Robert) Mnichowicz and Sandra Hennings; grandchildren, Brad Malouf (Erin Crowley), Daniel (Deirdre) Malouf, Elizabeth (Fiance Brandon Haggerty) Malouf, Christian (Alexa) Malouf, Melissa (Jered) Woodward, Jessica Jones, Eric Hennings, Brian (Raisa) Mnichowicz, Katie Mnichowicz, and Benjamin Mnichowicz; great-grandchildren, Logan Woodward, Madelyn Woodward, Nicholas Woodward, Ophelia Woodward,Lacey Mnichowicz, Sam Mnichowicz, Casey Jones, Christopher Jones, Emmett Malouf and Bridie Haggerty; sisters-In-Law, Lilian Hennings and Suzanne Hennings; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Ralph (Joan) Slater, James Slater; sisters-in-law, Shirley Hennings and Beatrice (Frank) Spalliero; brothers-in-law, Donald Hennings and Fredrick Hennings.

Visitation Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers 10:15 am, Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the funeral home proceeding to St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL for a 11:00 am Funeral Mass. Interment at St. Mary Parish Cemetery.
