I really enjoyed knowing Joan - - that mischievous sparkle in her eyes, her funny, endearing ways. We shared a love for animals, especially abandoned animals. And in our conversations at church, we would whisper to each other the number of abandoned cats and dogs we currently had in our households. And I loved that she was on the alter guild; that was another very cool facet of Joan. Joan was really special. I'm glad our paths crossed. Rest in peace, special lady. Linda Raley

As often as I was at their house with Dave, Joan was practically a second mom to me. (Always called her Mrs. Peters at that time!) Always welcoming, even though Dave & I together could be quite a handful. Over the years I felt could drop by any time unannounced. She often had classical music playing, which spurred on what has become a lifelong love of choral music for me. And the bird room in the basement. Remarkable.
