She is survived by her children: Stephen (Duyen Hong) Van Kell, Laura (David) Mueller and Daniel (Amanda Wolfe) Van Kell and grandchildren: Jacob Mueller, Emily Van Kell and Vy Quach. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, and her parents, Frank and Leona Van Loon.
Joan was known for her warm spirit and outgoing nature – she rarely met a stranger. She was devoted to her family, supporting and attending all her kids' activities, planning regular family vacations to northern Wisconsin or welcoming friends and relatives to her home to celebrate holidays and family milestones. She also enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables from her garden, baking a variety of treats every Christmas, singing favorite or made-up songs and adopting many 4-legged friends to provide each with a lifetime of love. She had a sharp-mind and quick wit that shone in the employment positions she held, trivia games and crosswords she solved and countless books she read. Joan’s vibrant presence will be missed by all who knew her.
