John B. Douglas

Upon graduating from Main Twp. High School West, John followed in his father’s footsteps and became an Ironworker, joining Ironworkers Union Local #63 in Chicago, where he was a member for 49 years before retiring. John loved all things involving the outdoors and nature: he was an avid snow skier, bicyclist, camper, traveler and fisherman. During the last several years since retirement, he would spend the summers in northern Wisconsin and the winters in Florida. There was hardly a lake that he hadn’t discovered and fished in either state.

John is survived by his sisters, Linda (Robert) Coulson and Sandra Schelsky; nephews Douglas, Matthew and Robbie, and numerous extended family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Ruth, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

A visitation for John will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, followed by a memorial service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with Rev. Kenneth Jensen presiding.
