John "Jack" Thomas Amato was born April 6, 1926 in Chicago to Bernard and Marie (nee Tierney) Amato. He died April 26, 2018 at Autumn Leaves of Arlington Heights.
He served in the Army during WWII, in the 11th Airborne Division. He was a member of General MacArthur’s Honor Guard in Japan. John was a friend of Bill W.
John is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Jicha) Amato; his daughters Nancy (Michael) Hanzalik and Jacqueline Amato; his sister Patricia (Sue Midday) Amato and by his nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by siblings Bernard Jr., (late Marilyn) Amato, Mary Ann (late Roy) Gustafson, Robert Amato, Richard Amato, Ronald (Linda) Amato.
Visitation Wednesday May 2, 2018 from 9:00 AM until time of mass at 10:00 AM St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice.
