With deep sadness we announce the passing of John E. Tisza who was born July 13, 1959 in Chicago to Eugene and Joan (nee Kanabay) Tisza. John was baptized into and grew up within the Immaculate Heart of Mary School and Parish Community. He proudly attended Lane Tech HS and went on to study at UIC for college.
John was married to his wife Jan for 35 years and was a proud father of three sons: John S. Tisza, Michael J. (Monica) Tisza and Daniel A. Tisza; and was a proud grandfather to Michael and Monica’s daughter Ana Tisza. John’s passing is mourned by his loving siblings and their spouses; Tom Tisza, Mary Biancalana, Karen Walsh and Kathy Schmit. John was proud uncle of his 12 nieces and nephews.
John founded Zaco Manufacturing in 1989. He proudly owned and operated his company until the day of his passing. John was the past President of CASMI, Chicago Association of Spring Manufacturing.
John and his brother Tom were charter members (1987) and cooked at Mike Royko’s Chicago RibFest every year until the event was no longer held. The pair were awarded a semifinalist award one year. John’s enjoyment of outdoor BBQ continued throughout his life. He hosted many gatherings for family and friends centered around his cooking on the barbeque grill.
From his teenage years John had a passion for all types of music. John played electric and acoustic guitar in several bands and even was a stand-in musician at the Kingston Mines for some famous blues guitarists. He also volunteered to play guitar at the SOAR camp every summer for many years. and enjoyed playing the guitar and performing with his sisters and friends at gatherings.
John shared a love of all things CUBS together with his dad, Gene. His parents were very proud of all of John’s accomplishments and Gene enjoyed sitting with John listening to the CUBS games.
John was a dog-lover his whole life. He will be greatly missed by his devoted four-legged buddy, Auggie.
John is survived by his wife Jan (nee Semtner) Tisza; his sons John S. Tisza, Michael J. (Monica) Tisza and Daniel A. Tisza; his granddaughter Ana Tisza and by his siblings Tom (Sue) Tisza, Mary (Mike) Biancalana, Karen Walsh and Kathy (Tom) Schmit.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Joan Tisza.
John passed away unexpectedly June 3, 2020 at his home in Prospect Heights and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The visitation and Mass of the Resurrection for John will be held on Saturday, June 27th at St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church, 411 North Wheeling Road, Prospect Heights, IL.
Visitation will be in the church vestibule from 9:30 am – 10:30 am followed by a Mass of the Resurrection. A luncheon reception will immediately follow at The Tisza Family’s house, 105 W. Olive, Prospect Heights.
Please feel free to attend any part of the services but we would like to convey that, due to the current situation and restrictions from the State, attendance is limited at the service for John. The church has been granted special permission to allow the events to take place so we can honor John and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity in John’s name.
