Joseph A. Dockendorff was born October 2, 1940 in Evanston, IL to Joseph A. and Frances (nee Blameuser) Dockendorff. He died September 15, 2017 at Ballard Respiratory & Rehabilitation in Des Plaines.
Joe was in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965, serving as a chaplain's assistant in Germany. He was a proud veteran and loved serving his country.
He graduated from Marquette University with a degree in business. Joe was a successful print salesman in the late 1970s and early ’80s and beyond. He took great pride in the relationships he built with his customers and the services he provided them.
One of Joe’s greatest accomplishments was joining Alcoholics Anonymous and providing support and encouragement to fellow members for more than 40 years.
He was a loving husband, devoted father, caring grandfather, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
Joseph is survived by his wife Beverly (nee Donner) Dockendorff; his children Mark (Flora) Dockendorff, Matthew Dockendorff and Carrie Dockendorff; granddaughter Frances Dockendorff; his siblings Rita (Frank) Mahan and Mary (Robert) Donner.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights and Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m., also at Glueckert. Interment at St. Peter Cemetery, 8116 Niles Rd. Skokie.
