Joseph Scarpelli

Joseph Scarpelli died October 24, 2022 at home. He was born January 3, 1927 in Celico, Italy to Nicola and Adelina (nee Catalano) Scarpelli, emigrated to Chicago in 1939, and raised by his adoptive father, Carmine Scarpelli. Following his service with the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII, he earned his degree in architecture. His work is evidenced in countless structures throughout Chicago and the world.

He was preceded in death by his son Paul (Kimberly) Scarpelli; siblings late Michael, late Vincent (late Eleanor), late Pat (late Clara), late Frank (Rose), and late Marietta (Sam).

Joseph is survived by his children Nina (Christopher) Noel, Lydia (Michael France) Scarpelli, and John Scarpelli; his grandchildren Jeffrey Noel, Carla Noel, Holly France, Michael Gore, Gina (Aaron Estrin) Oliver and Lianne (Nicholas) Wojtanek as well as his great-grandchildren Rayelle, Oakley Paul and Dylan.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church 440 South Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60005 followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Graveside Committal Services will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
