Joseph Paul Schanaberger

Joseph Schanaberger was born on December 21, 1955 in Chicago to Charles and Mary (nee Mellen) Schanaberger. He died Thursday, May 23, 2019 in Wheeling.

Joseph had a successful career as a computer programmer at Allstate Insurance. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Prospect Heights for the last 23 years. Joe was known for his unparalleled knowledge of 60s and 70s music, his dedication to his family, and his positive demeanor and spirit. Joe was loved by everyone who knew him.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joann Schanaberger; his children, Jim (Stefanie) Schanaberger, Brian (Candace) Schanaberger, and Erin Schanaberger; his grandson, Ethan Schanaberger; his brother, James (the late Retta) Schanaberger; his sisters, Patricia Schanaberger, Anne (the late Robert) McGriff, and Mary Ellen (Kevin) Pitstick, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Schanaberger, his father, Charles Schanaberger, and his mother, Mary Schanaberger.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 411 N. Wheeling Road, Prospect Heights, IL  60070.
