Joseph T. Sobeck, 90, of Arlington Heights, IL, was born on April 22, 1936, in Chicago to the late Theodore and Louise (nee Belaski) Sobeck, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was the beloved husband to Jeanne (nee Ceral) Sobeck, loving father to Kenneth, Karen and Kathleen (Neil) Larson; dear grandfather to Elizabeth (late Evan) Zibell, McKenna (Reno) Averill, Sara Larson, Kelsey Larson; dear great grandfather to Ashton Zibell; fond brother to Richard (MaryLou) Sobeck and the late Nancy (late Gordon) Eaken; and fond uncle to Jeannine (Danny) Dorrah, Joanni (Michael) Larson and Jennifer (Michael) Budney. He will be dearly missed.
Joseph had a sixty-plus-year career starting with working for the City of Chicago Reclamation District to being an independent contractor. His favorite assignment while employed by the Tribune Company was working with the Chicago Cubs being responsible for many of the improvements to Wrigley Field including managing the installation of the lights.
Joseph was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, IEEE and the International Laurel and Hardy Society, Bacon Grabbers tent.
A church visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 9:30-10:30 pm at St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect, IL 60056. The funeral mass will follow at 10:30 am at the church. Interment will be private.
