Judith Kay Rabe

Of Des Plaines

Judith (Judy) Rabe cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away on June 2nd, 2023 in Elk Grove Village, IL. She was 83 years old. Born in Chicago, IL to Alvin and Audrey Edgren.

Judy led a long, rich, family-centered life of love. Raising 4 children, she was very involved in her church. She was a Sunday School teacher, vacation Bible School teacher, served on the church council, and the alter guild. Judy began her career working in 1974 as a receptionist for a law firm in downtown Chicago in the Civic Opera Building and retired as a receptionist working in an office in Sears Tower. After her kids moved out of the family home, she moved into a condominium in Des Plaines in 1996 and served on the board of directors on and off until 2022. She enjoyed traveling with friends and was able to go and see many places that interested her. She cherished her memories and shared a story about where this or that came from. (She had a lot of this and that)

Judy was a member of The Sons of Norway, she subscribed and donated to many charitable organizations. One of her favorites was Vesterheim- The National Norwegian-American Museum and Folk Art School

She is survived by her children Ellen (David) Kretsch, Julie (Matthew) Lozich, John (Elise) Rabe and Karin (Steve) Klima; her grandchildren Bill (Kaitlin) Kretsch, Erik (Rachael) Kretsch, Loreen (Kyle) Stellpflug, Patrick O’Donnell, Ann Lozich, Tyler Klima and Rachel Rabe; her great-grandchildren Paige Kretsch, Hayden Kretsch, Cora Stellpflug and Victoria Kretsch.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Leonard Rabe, her parents, her brother Alvin “Bud” Edgren and her granddaughter Erin Cummings.

A visitation will take place on Friday, June 9th, 2023, from 9:00AM-11:00am and a brief memorial service following at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
