Karen Ziegler (née Pinkowski) was born on September 2, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois to Karl and Elly (née Schmidt) Pinkowski. She died Sunday, March 14, 2021, in hospice care at home in Palatine, Illinois.
Karen completed beauty school, became a licensed beautician at the age of 16, and continued her passion for hairstyling and cosmetology in her free time. Beyond that, Karen devoted her time to others, making sure everyone was taken care of, like a mother to all, whether as a volunteer at her daughter's school, hosting exchange students, or working as a crossing guard.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Emily Jade Hui Ziegler; her mother, Elly Pinkowski; her brother, Kenn (Deborah) Pinkowski; her sister, Dori (Ray) Pinkowski-Cabrera; her mother-in-law Maureen (partner Robert Maxson) Ziegler; her sister-in-law, Robin Maureen (Craig) Lepa; her niece Danielle Maureen (partner Vincent Molosky) Zemola, of whom she was especially close, and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Wyatt Ziegler; and her father, Karl Pinkowski; her father-in-law, Robert F. Ziegler; and her brother-in-law, Robert F. Ziegler, Jr..
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 20, 2021, from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 am at the Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Face masks are required, social distancing and capacity limits (50) are in effect. Guests should prepare to wait outside for entry. Interment Maryhill Cemetery, Niles.
