Katherine J. Howard

Kathy, nicknamed “Trink”, was born on March 20, 1932, to Ralph and Joanne Vehmeier in Freeport, IL. Kathy grew up in Freeport, moving to her new home in Rolling Meadows soon after she was united in marriage with Joseph Howard on January 30, 1953. In recent years Kathy became passionate about gardening. She spent many hours hunting for bargains in local nurseries and planting new arrangements in the flower beds of her home on Dove street each spring.

Attended by her children and wonderful care-givers, Kathy was able to reside in her own home until her passing. The family would like to extend a special thank you to JourneyCare Hospice for their tender & loving care.

She is survived by her children: Thomas (Barbara) Howard of Lake Geneva, WI, Teresa (Michael) Amen of Chicago, her sibling Carol, and her five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy in 2013; her husband, Joseph, in 1989.

A private family internment will take place at the Pekin, IL cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
