

Sister Kathleen Heer went to God on June 15, 2026 at Resurrection Life Center. At 75, four year s after a debilitating stroke she received loving care from the nursing and aide staff, chaplain and hospice, her community and family.
Kathleen was the eldest of nine children. She follows in death her loving parents, Jeanne Marie McGrath Heer and Thomas J. Heer, and her dear brother, Robert Heer. She is survived by Thomas Heer and wife, Patti, Mary Heer, Betty Freeze Heer (husband Floyd, deceased), John Heer, sister-in-law Cathy Heer, Daniel Heer and wife Leanne, Michael Heer and wife, Carrie, Joseph Heer, and many nieces and nephews.
Sister Kathleen entered the Sisters of Christian Charity in 1969 and was called again to be a founding member of the Sisters of the Living Word in 1975. She was a gifted artist and educator. She taught junior high at St. Raphael’s, in Englewood, IL and stayed as principal for 16 years. She participated in the Consolidation of the nine Englewood schools and was elected vice-president of the Archdiocesan Principals Association. She was also principal at St. Catherine Laboure in Glenview, IL. In 1996 she began a second career as Art Therapist in the Julie Billiart school, in Ohio, for 16 years. She got her Masters in Art Therapy at Ursuline College and lived with the Ursuline sisters. She was active in the St. Noel parish choir and traveled with the a capella chamber choir. She served on the Congregational Leadership of her religious community for five years. Kathleen shared her gifts of art, music and education until her health failed. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and religious community. We praise God for the generous sharing of her gifts and her jokes which always brought a smile.
Visitation will be held at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, US, on June 30, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.
A Funeral Service will take place at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, US, on June 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
