

Founder and one of the owners of American Scrap Metal, Ken Niebuhr, better known as “Scrapman”. Ken had a deep love for the scrap metal industry, it was one of his passions in life. Ken also loved classic and beautiful cars, buying them, viewing them and talking about them, at one time he had a collection of about 15. Ken was incredible at making connections in the industry he was a great sales person, deal maker and deal closer. Also coming up with very innovative and progressive ideas. Customers loved his charismatic personality. If you met Ken, you most likely did not forget him. Kens legacy will never be forgotten and will live on thru his children and American Scrap Metal. Kenneth is survived by his wife Nicole (nee Laverdure) Niebuhr; his daughters Jessica and Rachel; his sister Julie (Jim) Rodriquez; eight nieces and nephews, Jimmy, Jennifer, Jonathan, Jessica, Julianne, Jason, Justin and Jordan Rodriguez; his aunt and Godmother Claudia (Bob) Conroy and by his mother Kathleen (Christ Savides) Niebuhr.
Ken is preceded in death by his father.
Visitation Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, from 9:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment Memory Gardens Cemetery.
