Gayle,  I just heard about Larry's passing last year.  I know he fought a very long battle and is now at peace. I hope your pain has eased somewhat and the good memories are coming through

Mr Csajaghy was my home room teacher plus History and English for eight grade at Carl Sandburg Jr High ('69).  He got me though the constitution test and learned how to spell his last name.  I am sadden by this lost.

Gayle & Family... I was saddened by the news of Larry's passing.  I fondly remember him from High School (many years ago) and considered him a friend during those years.  Please accept my sincere condolences.

Gayle and Family,  I am sorry to hear about Larry's passing.  He was a very nice guy.  I remember from East Leyden.  Also, he was Assistant Principal and Principal for my daughter and son.  My son, Tony attended Washington only for 6th grade.
Larry helped my son make the transition from Roosevelt School.

Larry was my first supervisor in District 64 and my mentor as a new principal. He taught me how to be caring, flexible and focused on the things that make a difference as an educational leader. His sense of humor and focus on kids were qualities that I tried to incorporate in my own work. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with this wonderful man.

Larry was my first supervisor in District 64 and my mentor as a new principal.  He taught me how to be caring, flexible and focused on the things that make a difference as an educational leader. Larry and my dad, Jay Threadgill,  were great friends for many years. He was very supportive to my father during his battle with cancer and to our family after his death in 1996. Through Our Saviour's and other activities my dad shared many stories of the mischief and friendship they had.  There was never anything but kind, wonderful words shared about Larry.  I know in my heart...they are already catching up in Heaven.  Blessings and prayers to your entire family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Larry (Mr. C) as my assistant principal in Junior High, as a colleague when I went to teach many years later for District 64, as a basketball buddy, as a parent of three Washington School students, as a Playmaker alum (who could ever forget his on-stage antics!), and, like all of us, as a friend.

My wife, Roxann, and I have so many fond memories of Mr. C interacting with our kids, but there is one that rises above all others.  At the time we only lived three houses away from school, and our boys took that – along with Mr. C’s kindness – to mean they could leave the house at the last minute.  Of course, they were often late.  When Larry threatened to personally come to the house and pick them up, they thought he was teasing.  Yeah, right.  Of course, the next morning the doorbell rang.  You should have seen the looks on their little faces with Mr. C towering in our doorway.  He walked them to school that day and they were never late again!  Once they left, Roxann and I could not stop laughing.  We still love to tell that story around the dinner table.  

I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that I have tears in my eyes and an empty place in my heart.

Mr C was an amazing man.  He made it a point to know the names of all the children at Washington School.  He talked all the time about the community at the school as being a "family".  That essentially set the tone for his caring and loving of all the children.  His passion and commitment to each and every child was amazing.  I was also impressed at his passion to get the kids to read more whether he needed to kiss a pig or sit on roof.  We will miss you Larry.  God speed Chris, Tori, Ross, Eric, Adam and Angela Jepsen

Mr. C was truly one of the most caring and genuine people I have ever known. I remember him showing so much interest in my family when we were planning family vacations to Asia. If I remember correctly his son had made trips there. He allowed us to extend our vacation, cutting into school days, but he still maintained my level of learning by having me commit to a written journal of my travels. He wrote personal comments on each page; it showed that he truly cared about each and every child at his school.

Not only was he kind and accepting of everyone, he was passionate about his students and their education. I remember reading 30 books (on my own) so I could see him fly in a hot air balloon. Though it didn't take flight it was spectacular to see him try, teaching us the lessons of perseverance and keeping one's word.

My condolences to his wife, children, and family. May they find solace in the memories and knowing that he has touched so many lives, and we are proud to be a part of his Washington family.

Larry Csajaghy was the best of principals, and an amazing person.  Every morning he greeted each student as (s)he walked through the door.  As principal, he was a special combination of strict and loving, and he made every person at Washington School feel special, worthwhile, and capable of doing anything.  His ready smile, contagious sense of humor and easy manner made him a pleasure to be around; he was loved and admired by students, parents, and teachers.  Mr. C so very obviously loved his job, and had a positive impact on many, many families as a result.

I have very fond memories of Mr. C, and of my time at Washington School.  What a wonderful and unique man he was.

May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

I know that Mr. Csajaghy brought so much joy into so many lives.  He will be missed by all.  My condolences to the entire family.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing Mr C with his Washington School family. He really was the best and will never be forgotten for his encouragement, kindness and sense of humor to all, especially his students.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Csajaghy. I have many great memories of him. My love, thoughts, and condolences to you all! He will be missed!

I will never forget how Mr. Csajaghy took time out of his day to make sure that my sister and I felt welcome and comfortable when we started school at Washington.  He always went out of his way to take care of his students and we will never forget that.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and I hope that all the warm memories that you and countless others have of him give you comfort during this difficult time.

We were a washington school family.My son was afraid of Mr. Csajaghy..just because ...nothing he did ...he was afraid of police and firemen too. I went to him and told him that if my son acts strange in front of him it was just because he was scared. From that Day on Mr. C stood in the hall and waited to wave,say hello or high five my kid during each passing period. What person does that?.....A wonderful one! My son still remembers that. He will always have a special place in our hearts!
Rest in peace Mr. C. Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. All of the Washington Families are better people because of him. He was a good one!

Larry and I attended high school together.  He smiled and seemed to be in a good mood all the time.  I never heard him utter a negative word about anyone.

I was a student of his many years ago at Lincoln Jr High and had the pleasure of running into him while shopping at Christmas time at Woodfield Mall a few years ago. I was able to tell him that he made a HUGE difference in my life and i'm a better person today because of him. He was a great educator and someone that truly cared about his students. I am grateful for all he did for me and will always remember him fondly. My condolences to his family, Karen Conboy DiPietro

Mr. Csajaghy will always hold a special place in my heart. I still remember him kissing a pig while I was at Washington in an effort to get his students to read :) He was an outstanding man and truly impacted my life and my older brothers. My deepest sympathies go out to his family.
