Laverne B. Hughes (nee Lovelady) of Arlington Heights, died peacefully in her home, Thursday May 27, 2022. She was 87. Laverne was born in Arkansas but moved north as a young woman for the job opportunities. A long-time resident of the Village, she loved petting her neighbor’s dogs and visiting with them as they took their walks past her house. She worked at Methode Electronics for 35 years.
Laverne is preceded in death by her husband, Louis, her son, Ronald, and three of five siblings, Erma, Friedia, and Donald. She is survived by her son, Rick (Cathleen), her grandchildren, Emily and Caroline, her sister, Naoma, and brother Wayne. She is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
