

Lawrence E. Andres, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 12, 2026, in Arlington Heights. He was born on July 26, 1951, in Chicago to the late William Sr. and Genevieve (née Jacobs) Andres. Larry graduated with the Class of 1969 from Arlington High School and worked at Lauterburg Oehler Funeral Home from 1968 to 1970.
Larry’s lifelong love of movies began in childhood, when his grandfather took him to the Arlington Theater every weekend. In the fall of 1970, Larry met the love of his life, Debbie, while attending Harper College, where they both participated in theater productions, Larry on stage and Debbie working behind the scenes. Theater remained a shared passion throughout their lives.
Larry and Debbie were married on November 24, 1973. Larry began his career in public service in 1971 as a radio dispatcher for the Arlington Heights Fire Department. In 1975, he joined the Buffalo Grove Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter and earned his paramedic certification in 1977. Following certification, he became one of the first paramedics hired by the Chicago Fire Department. In July 1981, Larry joined the Buffalo Grove Fire Department full-time as a firefighter/paramedic. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1989 and faithfully served his community until his retirement in July 2007.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Genevieve (née Jacobs) Andres; his brother, William “Bill” (Ginny) Andres Jr.; and his stepfather, Joseph Eisenkohl. He is survived by his beloved wife, Debra “Debbie” (nee Maybee) Andres; loving son, Dylan (Denise LaBrose) Andres; and his cherished granddaughter, Olive Andres. He is also survived by his dear sisters, Arlene “Cookie” (Dean) Stewart and Kathy (Scott) Stoeckel; with many loving nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and warmth.
One of Larry’s greatest joys was witnessing the Chicago White Sox win the World Series Championship in 2005.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Glueckert Funeral Home. Family Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive Street, Arlington Heights, Illinois. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m.. Interment to follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, 2379 East Euclid Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL.
