Lawrence Wayne Olson was born on November 23, 1945 in Evanston, Illinois to Raymond and Arvilla (nee Bergstrom) Olson. He passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 18, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was a United States Marine Corps veteran who went on to success in computer programming and computer software development. Utilizing these skills Larry started several businesses including List Processing Company which was then purchased by Pitney Bowes. Once again, he found success as a member of the board of directors for American Chartered Bank which was later acquired by MB Financial Bank. Larry was a man of many talents, took to calling himself a "deviser".
Besides being a devoted husband and father Larry was a passionate Chicago sports fan. A huge Chicago Cubs fan especially. He was an avid golfer and became a member of Medinah Country Club where he developed many friendships and enjoyed his time on the links. Larry also made the trip to Augusta several times to see the Master's Tournament.
Larry was admired for his integrity and sound business sense. He was always willing to help solve problems as he liked the challenges. An intelligent man with a big kind heart is how Larry will be remembered by those who knew him in life.
Lawrence is survived by his spouse of 55 years Dolores Olson (nee McGovern); his 3 children Scott (late Susan) Olson, Kelly (Chris) Kalscheur and Eric Olson; 3 grandchildren Erika Olandese, Tyler Kalscheur and Kayley Kalscheur; he is also survived by his brother Alan Olson and his sister Linda Loucks.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his brother Raymond (Margie) Olson.
Larry was loved and admired by a great many people who will miss him dearly.
Visitation Monday, July 26, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday, July 27th from 10:00am until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00am at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Barrington. The family is requesting “casual attire” for anyone attending either the visitation or the funeral service.
