Leonard L. Brown was born on November 6, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas to Leonard and Frieda (nee Gumpell) Brown. He died Friday, March 19, 2021 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, Illinois.
Mr. Brown was a farmer with a passion for White Faced Hereford beef cattle and wheat crops. While maintaining the family’s original 80 acres, he had up to 220 acres of crop and pastureland. He also worked full time in Manufacturing. Starting in the aircraft industry in the early 60s as a machinist. He continued in Manufacturing including more than 20 years with NCR Corporation before retiring in 2011 with LSI Corp.
He was a member of Mid Kansas COOP (MKC), supporting the farming community. He also attended Newton Christian Church, bringing the family to become members, and served as a Deacon.
His interests and hobbies included family vacations and numerous outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, riding horse and ATVs. He was an avid water skier and spent as much time as possible with family at Table Rock Lake near Shell Knob, MO. Leonard also enjoyed time in the mountains of Colorado between Gunnison and Crested Butte, Wyoming and in Montana where he owned 20 acres near Phillipsburg, MT.
Leonard is survived by his spouse of 58 years Linda Brown (nee Tubbs); his twin sons Landon Brown and Lane (Lisa) Brown; his grandchildren Luke Brown, Logan Brown and Leah Brown; as well as his nephew, Randy Stracener.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister Kathryn (late Claude) Keck.
Visitation Friday, March 26, 2021 from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 am at Long Grove Community Church 1110 Robert Parker Coffin Road, Long Grove, IL 60047. Interment will follow at Long Grove Community Church Cemetery.
