Lewis R. Gray PH.D was born February 14, 1936 in Madison, WI to Dr. Rodney and Helen (nee Sloan) Gray. He died May 15, 2023 in Prospect Heights, IL.
During his lifetime, Lewis served as a Professor of Biology at City Colleges of Chicago (Truman College) for over 30 years. In his free time, he loved spending time with his family and friends, going on vacation to the Caribbean, collecting stamps and watching horse races especially at Arlington Park. Lewis faithfully attended and served at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for many years. He was a resident of Arlington Heights for over 50 years.
Lewis is survived by his children, Thomas R. (Josephine) Gray, Barbara (Fernando) Maldonado and Marjorie (Jeremiah) Pettitt; his grandchildren, Rachel, Grace, Megan, Leo, Elijah, Thomas L. and Samuel.
Lewis is preceded in death by his wife Carmen A. (nee Brunsell) Gray; his brother Dr. Rodney Gray and by his parents.
