Linda Ann Mackey, age 68, died on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Journey Care Hospice in Barrington, after a short but intense struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Linda was a dedicated wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother.

She was a devout Catholic, an active member of the community, and a friend to everyone she met. She was an avid fan of classic movies, and could name the actors and provide detailed trivia for countless films.

She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice. She had a keen eye for art and interior decoration, and took beautiful photographs without even trying. She loved being around other people, and would start conversations with complete strangers. More than anything, she was dedicated to the well-being and happiness of everyone around her.

She was a source of great strength to her loved ones, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Linda is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim; children, Kevin Mackey and Kelly (Rob) Allen; grandson Mac Allen; siblings, Kathleen (Jeff) Reimer and Robert (Ann) Haren.

Visitation from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights. Prayers 9:15 am Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the funeral home proceeding to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights where Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am.
