Lorraine Therese Kelly

Lorraine Therese Kelly was born September 14, 1926 in Chicago to Patrick and Margaret (nee Corcoran) Healy. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 26, 2023 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Lorraine spent her summers at the lake in Dowagiac, Michigan where she met the love of her life, Bob Kelly, in 1948. They were married in 1950 and started their family. She is proud of her Irish heritage and always celebrated St Patrick’s day with lots of green and her famous Irish Soda Bread.Lorraine loved spending time with her family and friends and was always the life of the party. She was passionate about all she put her mind to, and has passed the traits of strong work ethic, fierce independence and zest for life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a teacher of the deaf, she worked with the hearing impaired throughout her life. Lorraine loved music, played the tympany drums in the local orchestra, and would play the piano for all of our birthday parties.

Lorraine is survived by her children Mary Ellen (Bill) Schumann, Kevin (late Joan), Maureen (Roger) Novak, Patrice (late Scott) Leannais, Kathleen (late Ken) Eddy, Colleen (Mike) Williams, Nancy (Tim) Kubis, Ann (Dan) Clarton, Bob and Lorraine Reilly; grandchildren Carl (Emily), Cara, Kate, Margaret, Shannon (Connor), Azure, Nicole (Lee), Kyle (Reece), Elyse (Mike), Alexandra (Anthony), Zachery, Garrett, Sam, Madeline, Jacqueline (Ben), Tim, Bridget, Kevin, Kelly (Kyle), Carolyn (Ian), Shelby (Jesse), Claire (Matt), Adele, Tom (Katie), Andrew, Marguerite, Nicholas, Geri Ann, Jane, Erin, Rachel (Bryan) and Megan; and many great grandchildren.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband George Robert "Bob" Kelly; whom she married October 1950; her daughter Christine Kelly; her siblings Anna Marie (late George) Krause, Michael Healy, Margaret (late Thomas) Peyton, Irene (late Francis) Enright, Robert (late Helen) Healy and Francis Healy and by her parents.

Visitation Friday, March 31, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights and Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of prayers at 10:15 AM to St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights for Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
