Lynn E. Mondo (nee Ligman), 71, beloved wife of Dennis M. Mondo, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2018, surrounded by her family, following a courageous and graceful 23-year battle with breast cancer.
Born in Chicago, IL, on June 16, 1947, Lynn grew up with her brother Fred Ligman in River Grove, only a few blocks away from her husband, whom she would later meet in college. Lynn was a graduate of Resurrection College Prep High School in Chicago, IL. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Loyola University (Chicago) in 1969. Lynn had a distinguished career with Sears, Roebuck and Company before dedicating herself to raising her family and supporting her husband’s dental practice.
Lynn and Dennis shared a loving marriage of 44 years, and are the proud parents of three daughters, Dana (Chris) Griffin, Lindsey (Alex) Christen, and Sarah Mondo. Lynn was a source of limitless love, laughter, and adventure to her cherished grandchildren Henry and Camille Christen, and Hannah and Benjamin Griffin.
Lynn enjoyed traveling with Dennis, theater with friends, and volunteering her time cooking meals for the St. Anne Night Ministry. She encouraged literacy and higher education through various organizations.
Above all, Lynn will be remembered for her strong faith, devotion to her family and friends, and the kindness and humility with which she approached life. She will be deeply missed by all.
Lynn is also survived by sisters-in-law Teri (Jay) Mesi and Suzette Mondo; brother-in-law, Joseph Mondo, Sr.; nephews, Jason Mesi, Marc (Amy Heath) Mesi, and Joseph (Terry) Mondo, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Eleanor (nee Gignac) Ligman, and nephew, Stephen Mondo.
The family will host a visitation from 3 to 8 pm on Thursday, September 27th, at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, 847-253-0168. A 10:00 am visitation, Friday, September 28, 2018, will be held until the 11:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Anne Church, 120 Ela St, Barrington, IL 60010. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lynn's memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute - Women’s Cancers: Breast Cancer (dana-farber.org), Open Books (open-books.org), or JourneyCare Foundation (journeycare.org/donate/).
