

Margaret A. Powers Of ChicagoMargaret A Powers was born on July 28th, 1929 to Lettie (nee Kidd) Robertson and Robert Robertson in the small town of Eccles, West Virginia. She died on July 18th, 2016 in Barrington, Illinois, just 10 days short of her 87th birthday. Margaret spent her childhood years in the small mining town of Eccles and the summer months visiting her grandfather's farm in southern West Virginia. After high school graduation, Margaret moved to Banbridge, MD where she worked and lived the single life under the watchful eyes of her aunts. In 1952 at the age of 22 she met Walter Powers (deceased) and they were married within 4 months. After that, the newlyweds moved to Chicago and raised 4 daughters. Margaret worked as a School Crossing Guard for several years and was an avid supporter of the Chicago Police Department. Margaret loved dance, enjoyed eating out, and relished a good martini. In earlier years she traveled to visit her children and went on cruises with friends.Margaret was loving, generous, stubborn, and understanding to her children, grandchildren, and friends, she will be missed by all who knew her.Margaret is survived by her children, Catherine Powers, Patty Corbett (Donald) and Margaret Stup (Gary) plus 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Powers; her daughter, Terry Tomaselli; her parents; and her brother, "Ray" Robertson.Visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service 1:00 pm. Friday, July 29th. Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Hts. Rd., Arlington Heights, Illinois.
