Miss you Marianne it still hurts. My thoughts are with her family she loved so much.

Even a year after losing Marianne, I still think of her often and miss her genuine kindness, patience and humor. To Rick and the apples of her eye, her 4 kids, I am so sorry for your loss and how difficult this year must have been for you. 

I worked with Marianne for many years and considered her my friend. My prayers are still with you and hope that her empty seat at the table reminds you what a precious gift she was to so many. 

I left a message last year and I just wanted to leave another today. I can’t believe it’s already been a year. I wanted to leave a message today to let Marianne’s family know that she is still missed so much. The office is not and will never be the same without her. I hope her family finds comfort in wonderful memories of her today and always.

I was so very sorry to hear of Marianne's passing! She was a woman who was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside--and that is saying something! I remember her ceaseless volunteering at St. Theresa School, where her kids attended.  She never looked for the easy or visible job; she looked for an opportunity to make a contribution to her kids, their friends, and their school.  
Family members: I don't know if you know that she housebroke our dog for us.  She offered to watch our new puppy, Lacey, while we went away for four days. I said the pup would have to stay in her crate, because she wasn't housebroken yet.  I wish I could convey to you my astonishment and appreciation when she and Lacey met us at the door when we came to retrieve her.  I thought Marianne was crazy to let her run free; she said, "she's housebroken." What a gift! I didn't know what I was doing and Marianne did it in four days!
To Rick, Nick, Peter, Chrissy, and Stephanie, I am so very sorry for your shocking loss.  She was truly a wonderful woman! xx Maria Anderson

I went to St. Theresa school with the Roto children. Mrs. Roto was very involved in school activities and was rightfully proud and fiercely protective of her children.  

She was a beautiful lady both inside and out.  She had high expectations of herself but she was so tender with people who needed kindness. 

I was very overweight growing up and there was a time when a classmate said something very hurtful about my body.  Mrs. Roto found me crying and told me that sometimes young girls need a chance to grow into who they will be.  She told me she had looked like me when she was young. Mrs. Roto was very beautiful and I took great comfort that I might grow up and look like her. 

Now that I’m an adult I’ve had many opportunities to BE beautiful like she was instead of merely looking beautiful. So grateful I knew her.  I plan to teach my girls so many of the things St. Theresa moms like Mrs. Roto taught me. 

I just found out about Marianne and am so upset. I worked with
Marianne at Northshore for many years.  Not only was Marianne the person who taught me so much when I started as manager she continued to always be supportive. She was always positive and a wonderful friend and colleague.  What a loss to so many and will always be remembered

I have worked with Marianne at Northwestern and Northshore MFM.  We used to swap stories about our 2 lovely daughters as they are similar in age and she was immensely proud of her daughters.   When I interviewed at NW I was touched that she came to my interview to encourage me to join the team .  I will miss her dry humor ,  her support and kindness.  I know she was just starting to look forward to time with grandchildren and less time at work.  God bless you all and may you feel her presence through one another. We will miss her . I am so sorry for you loss

I only have worked with Marianne since February 2019, but I have always thought of her as a very nice person. She was always very flexible.  I remember when I told her I needed time off this past Feb for a trip to Disney and I told her we were driving this time to Florida and she told me how she used to drive to Florida with her kids and told me the route she took. It seemed like a very wonderful memory for her and I was glad she shared it with me.  I have thought of her many times a day, everyday since I found out the terrible news on Monday morning.  The office will not be the same without her and if she is missed this much by myself and the rest of the practice, I can only imagine how much she will be missed by her family.  You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

I’m sorry Roto Family for your loss. Marianne was my manager and I loved working with her. She was kind, a hard working person, and compassionate. She would always ask me how my kids are doing. She would always talk about Sloan. She truly loved her family. She wanted everyone at the office to join her to get fit for her daughter’s wedding in December. We already miss you so much Marianne. Rest In Peace.

I have only worked with Marianne since early 2019, but I will always remember her as a wonderful person.  When I told her I needed time off this past February because I had a family vacation to Disney planned and we were driving to Florida for the first time, she told me how she would drive with her kids to Florida and it seemed to be a very nice memory for her. The office will definitely not be the same without her and I have thought of her often everyday since I heard the terrible news Monday morning.  If she is missed this much by me and the rest of us at work, I can only imagine how much she is missed by her family.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Marianne and I worked closely together for all of her time at Northwestern Medicine. I was often referred to as her “right hand”. She was such a special person, who really took me under her wing. Mentoring me and supporting me, the best she could. Even though the days were sometimes stressful, she would always find time to share a video or a picture of Sloane doing something super cute that would make us both laugh and brighten the days. I was struggling once with some life stuff and Marianne said this to me and I will cherish it always...
“ I try to provide you with the same guidance I would support any of my children. You are very helpful, and I appreciate your support. I hope I am helpful in mentoring. Sometimes it's a tightrope balancing act to stay professional and respect the personal. Relax and quietly enjoy your weekend.” Mariannes Family was her most treasured gift.
