Marie Loretta Renner, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at the age of 87 in Arlington Heights, IL. Born on October 31, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, Loretta was a woman of grace and compassion, whose life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her devotion to her family and friends.
Loretta’s journey began as the cherished daughter of the late Michael Fritzen and the late Hedwig (the late Ludwig) Kammermeier. Her joyous spirit found its match in William Renner, and together they navigated the waters of life (sometimes by pontoon) as loving partners for 65 memorable years. Their enduring love was a foundation for the beautiful family they built, including their children: Suzanne (Jim Vana) Renner, William (Nora) Renner, Maria (Joseph Viereckl) Renner, and Annette (Steve) Terzic. Loretta’s legacy continued to grow with the joys of being the proud Oma to Peter (Maria) Brask, Daniel (Paige Snow) Brask, Erica (Sam Tallidis) Brask, Ellen (Todd) Homan, Emily (Ben Keller) Terzic, Marcus (Kenzie Hume) Viereckl, Maggie Terzic, Annie Terzic, Madeline Renner, Mary Renner, and Michael Renner. Her nurturing love will forever be cherished by her great-grandchildren, Piper Homan, Khoi Brask, and Cora Homan.
Loretta’s warmth extended to her siblings, including her dearest sister, Barbara (the late Alfred) Mayer, and her late brother, the Reverend Michael J. Fritzen. Her relationships with her siblings were characterized by love, support, and the kind of deep connection that only siblings can share. This extended to her cherished nieces and nephews Rosemarie, Michael, Elisabeth and Tom and to their families. Loretta maintained close ties to her extended family in Germany including cousin Ellen Eckert and sister-in-law Erica Zeppmeisel and their extended families.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Kolping Society of Chicago. Lori’s involvement with the St. James Catholic Church since 1968 reflected her dedication to her community and her belief in service. She found solace and joy in her faith, which guided her through life's challenges and triumphs. Loretta and Bill’s involvement in these organizations created lasting relationships and most dear friendships. She enjoyed the great celebrations with these friends that shaped their lives.
Loretta loved the beauty and solace of the outdoors and experiencing the world whether on trips to Europe and around the world or enjoying a weekend at The Lake in Wisconsin. Many a great time was had Up-Nord. A beautiful boat ride with friends, dinner with friends and neighbors, family weekends or an afternoon on the deck were special memories.
Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched. Lori's grace, her unwavering kindness, and the love she had for her family will continue to inspire and guide them. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of love, faith, and dedication, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Marie Loretta Renner's story is one of a life well-lived and well-loved. As we say goodbye, we take comfort in the knowledge that her light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family and friends, and her legacy will endure through the generations.
