Marilyn J. (Tritz) Macko passed peacefully on Friday, March 19. Born on June 24, 1929, to Frank and Marie Tritz in Clinton, IA, Marilyn grew up in Sterling, IL, and attended Loretto Heights College in Denver, CO, where she met and later married John L. Macko in 1957. They raised three children, John Macko, Bob Macko, and Mary Ann Macko Stavney, in Arlington Heights.
Marilyn worked at Zurich-American Insurance as well as serving on the Arlington Heights Environmental Control Commission and volunteering for the Red Cross among other organizations. She enjoyed laughing, dancing, golfing, and traveling with her “Lots of Luck” companions from St. James. Her passion for politics was surpassed only by her love of family including her grandchildren: Samantha Macko, Nicole Macko, Holden Stavney, and Margaux Stavney.
Marilyn is survived by her children and their spouses, grandchildren, and beloved sister, Rosemary Koos (nee Tritz). She is preceded in death by her loving husband, John L. Macko, and her sister, Joanne Hacker (nee Tritz).
A Celebration of Marilyn’s life is being planned for a future date. Memorials may be made given to the American Cancer Society.
