I am so sorry to hear about Marilyn's passing. I only knew her when she was just a little one ( I think by then I had stopped being the McCabe babysitter 😘), but my mom always regaled me with stories about her interactions with Marilyn!  She always laughed because Marilyn called her Hoppe! And never held back her opinions about my mom and what she may or may not have said! It is obvious from the obituary and my mom's stories that Marilyn brought a lot of joy to so many people and that she was a blessing in your family. I know you will miss her. Hugs to you all!

As the Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus, I offer you the sympathy and prayers of the Saint Viator/Sacred Heart of Mary community.  Our hearts go out to you as you move forward on your journey of grief.  We pray for you as you share the stories, laugh and cry, and continue to find ways to celebrate your sister and the love you shared.

As I read the obituary for this woman who was "the heart and soul of the McCabe family" and "who could make a friend everywhere," I was reminded of the following reading adapted from the Book of Sirach. 

“Let us praise an illustrious woman,
faithful to her family and friends, strong in her love.
At peace in her heart and her world,
she has left us her good name, and we recount her life of praiseworthy deeds.
A generous woman her good works will never be forgotten.
Among her family and friends remains a rich inheritance born of her….
Her name lives on from generation to generation.
We gather to sing her praises.
We proclaim her wisdom and love of life all our days.”

May God’s promise that life is changed, not ended, comfort you!
May the knowledge your sister lives on in your goodness give you peace and hope.

Marilyn and my brother John were friends through our Moms. John and I used to call Marilyn to go play at Pioneer Park. She was such good company for John! I will keep Marilyn and your family in my prayers.

Though I don’t remember ever meeting Marilyn, my cousin, Bob Greenway often talked about her & her wonderful family. Though I wish I could, I am not able to attend her services today. My prayers are with her and the whole family.

To the McCabe Family

I worked with Marilyn at the Jewel for many years. 
She was a sweet lady and often times would make me happy with her 
great smile. I missed her when she left Jewel but ran into her in the area where she would be so happy to give me her big hugs. Every year I was honored to receive  one of her Christmas cards that she was so proud to give, I know she worked hard on them. 

My condolences to the family for losing a sweetheart of a person. May she be dancing  with all her angel family.

To the family of Marilyn.  I worked at Jewel with Marilyn.  She was always so friendly and smiling.  Loved to give hugs.  We adored her.  Even when she hid her pop behind the sidewalk salt. Lol.   I’m so glad I had the pleasure to know Marilyn. Keeping you all in my prayers.
