

Marilyn Jean McIlveen was born August 16, 1932, in Fort Wayne, IN to Douglas J. and Margaret J. Thatcher. She died July 12, 2023, JourneyCare Hospice at Northwest Community Hospital.
She worked for the Shriners organization for many years, was a homemaker and the glue that bound her family together. Her and her husband, Charlie loved to travel, visiting Ireland many times over the years, and having the pleasure of traveling to several other countries and destinations in the United States. She enjoyed crocheting and was a member of the red hat society. Marilyn had a great sense of humor and quick wit but the thing she loved the most in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Ronald (Jacquelyn) of Ft Wayne, IN and Laura (Martin) Galis of Palatine IL, her three grandchildren Ryan (Kristina) Galis of Arlington Heights, Illinois, Erin (Brett) Peltier of Golden, CO, Kelly (Martin) McDonald of Chico, CA and her seven great -grandchildren Charlotte, Emilia, and Olivia Galis, Brooke and Walker Peltier and Cedar and Kove McDonald. She is also survived by her brothers, William Thatcher of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dennis Thatcher of Sacramento, California and Barbara McIlveen (daughter-in-law) of Chico, CA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, Alexander McIlveen (Irish); her son, Robert McIlveen; her brother, James and her parents.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
