Marilyn M. Petzold

Marilyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and great aunt. She was loving and caring and always had a wonderful sense of humor. Marilyn met her husband Robert Petzold when she worked at Kemper Insurance and he came to visit his mother at work, who was her boss. Bob was instantly smitten when he saw Marilyn. They married in August 1955 and were married for 61 years until Bob passed away in 2016. They started their family in Rolling Meadows IL, and eventually moved to Arlington Heights in 1963. They were active parishioners of St. James and raised five children who all attended St. James School. They had a group of friends who called themselves the “Lots of Luck” group and often gathered together for festivities including golfing trips in their retirement years.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Jay) Cohen and Garth (Norma) Petzold; grandchildren, Emily (Troy) Thompson, Tracy (John) Robertson, Vanessa (Dan Watson) Robinson, Hallie Cohen, Abigail Cohen, Ben Cohen; great grandchildren, Trey Thompson, Luke Thompson, Teagan Thompson and Hazel Robertson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Petzold; her parents; and three of her children, Brian Petzold (1982), Jamie Petzold (2020), and John Petzold (2018).

Family will be receiving guests on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.

An additional visitation will take place at St. James on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM until time of Mass, which will begin at 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Parish, 831 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
