

Marilyn Ruth Stromberg Sundberg, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at Brandel Care Center in Northbrook, IL, at the age of 99.
Born on March 26, 1926, in Chicago, IL, Marilyn was the cherished daughter of Dr. William (Ben) and Ruth Stromberg. She was preceded in death by her brothers, The Late Dr. William Benjamin Stromberg Jr. and The Late. James Theodore Stromberg.
On June 29, 1946, Marilyn married her North Park Swede, The Late, Neil Roy Sundberg, shortly after his service in the United States Army. Together they built a life centered on raising their family with love, in Park Ridge, IL.
Marilyn will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, her beautiful singing voice, and the joy she found in gathering loved ones around her. One of her greatest pleasures was hosting family events, where her home was filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking, the sound of laughter, and the warmth of togetherness. Marilyn was devoted to her church and her faith and was a fixture in the church choir for many years.
She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Janet Glawe and her husband, Bill, of Champaign, Illinois; Karen Edstrom and her husband, Eric, of The Woodlands, Texas; and Nancy Abramovitz and her husband, Jay, of Elgin, Illinois.
Marilyn was a devoted grandmother to Jason Slusser (Jennifer), Jen Slusser (Jess), Jon Slusser (Beth), Kris Edstrom (Jill), Annika Shultz (Bill), Linnea Moore (Grafton), a great-grandmother to 20 and great-great grandmother of 1. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched through her kindness, humor, and steadfast love.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Covenant Church of Schaumburg, 301 N Meacham Rd, Schaumburg, IL. All are welcome.
