Marty was the beloved husband of Beth Ann (Chicoine) Finis; loving father of Bridget Finis; cherished brother of Jerry (Nanne) Finis, Susan Finis, Nancy (Ed) Pecora and P.J. (late Mindy) Finis; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews; dear son-in-law of Catherine (late Gordon) Chicoine and brother-in-law of Mary Jo Chicoine, David (Cindy) Chicoine, Mark (Maureen Berger) Chicoine, Brian (Kathy) Chicoine, Mike (Caroline) Chicoine and Julie (Mark) Murphy.
Marty was truly a one-of-a-kind person and will be remembered best for making people laugh, his relentless teasing and lightening the mood of any situation with his quick wit, irreverent humor, one-liners and stories. He was intensely loyal to family and friends and had the ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Marty was a proud alumni of St. Theresa and Fremd High School in Palatine and the University of Illinois, where he followed in the footsteps of his brother Jerry as an offensive lineman for the Fighting Illini. After his playing days ended, Marty remained a huge and energetic fan, even as his loyalties were tested during many losing seasons. Marty met Beth Ann at Illinois and they were both so happy that Bridget continued the U of I tradition.
Marty followed his parents into the real estate industry and spent the past 20+ years managing the Trust Real Estate business at BMO in Chicago. Marty was known as an exceptionally hard worker and took pride in being on the first train into the city for many years. He had many close and valued colleagues and friends from his long career at the bank.
Over the years, his hobbies ranged from riding motorcycles in his younger days to fishing with old friends in more recent years. Friends described Marty as the “glue” that kept them together and appreciated his exceptional organizational skills getting trips, poker games and gatherings organized as well as being the historian of their best stories and memories.
