Martin McDonaugh

Martin McDonaugh was born on May 10, 1929, in Ireland to Martin and Mary (nee O’Malley) McDonagh. He died on Friday, November 24, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Martin immigrated to New York in 1949 and came to Chicago two years later for his sister’s wedding. Soon after, he met Teresa at an Irish dance and Chicago would become his home.

Martin was a Stationary Engineer for Sheraton Hotels and a Produce Manager for Jewel Foods. He loved working in his garden and spending time talking with family and friends.

Martin is survived by his children Maureen (George) Miz, James (Nancy) McDonaugh and Kevin (Mary Lou) McDonagh; his grandchildren Andrea (Magnus), Alec (Eleanor), Megan (Colin), Brian, Colleen (Alan), Molly, Sean (Katie), Sarah and Thomas as well as his great-grandchildren Madeleine, Barrett, and Finlay. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Teresa McDonaugh (nee Byrne), his parents, and his grandson, Ryan.

Visitation Monday, December 11, 2023, from 9:00am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 South Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
