Martin William Morris Jr. was born January 10, 1933, in Chicago to Martin W. Sr., and Margaret Mary (nee Walsdorf) Morris. He died October 21, 2021, at Bella Terra of Schaumburg.
He served in the Air Force from 1956-1960 as a specialist monitoring Soviet air communications in northern Europe.
He served for nearly thirty years in the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs, where he helped ensure equal employment rights for women and minorities.
He played bridge competitively for many years, eventually attaining the status of Life Master.
He was an avid Chicago sports fan and veritable encyclopedia of sports trivia. He was an avid bowler and also played basketball, softball, tennis, and golf.
He was an active parishioner at Saint Edna’s Catholic Church, volunteering his time as lector and catechism teacher. He donated generously all his life to charities for those less fortunate.
Martin is survived by his wife Janice (nee Bredeman) Morris; his children Christopher (Eileen), Alex (Gloria) and Kathleen (Georges) Latapie; by his grandchildren Colin, Paul, Lydia, and Mark.
He is preceded in death by his siblings Thomas (late Rosemary) Morris and Mary Ann Morris and by his parents.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday December 18, 2021 at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004 from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
