Mary Ann Kopp

Mary Ann was born and raised in Monon, IN. She graduated from DePauw University, then made her way to Louisville, KY where she met her future husband Bill Kopp. They moved to the northwest suburbs in 1960. Mary Ann worked at Lutheran General Hospital. After retiring, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA).

The Kopps lived in Des Plaines for many years. They had four children, Bill (Karen) Kopp, Steve (Tonia) Kopp, Andy (Denise) Kopp and Beth (Mike) Markasovic. They spent 10 great years at Luther Village in Arlington Heights, making many new friends while playing an active role in the lives of their children and grandchildren. A devoted letter writer, Mary Ann wrote to each of her grandchildren every week, always including funny comics and cartoons that she came across. Her sense of humor and wry observations were legendary.

Mary Ann is survived by her 3 sons, 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by Bill, her husband of 65 years, and by her daughter Beth.

A memorial gathering will be held for Mary Ann from 2:00 until 4:00 PM with a time of sharing beginning at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights.
