Dear Jim, Steven, Tim, and Matt,,  As the Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus at Saint Viator High School, I offer you the sympathy and prayers of the Saint Viator High School community.  Our hearts go out to you as you begin your journey of grief.  We pray for you as you share the stories, laugh and cry, and find ways to celebrate the life of your daughter, your sister, and the love you shared.  As I read the obituary for this women who accomplished much in her short lifetime, and who “was deeply loved by all,” I was reminded of an adaptation of a reading from the Book of Sirach.  “Let us praise an illustrious woman, faithful to her family and friends, strong in her love. At peace in her heart and her world, she has left us her good name, and we recount her life of praiseworthy deeds. A generous woman her good works will never be forgotten. Among her family and friends remains a rich inheritance born of her…. Her name lives on from generation to generation. We gather to sing her praises. We proclaim her wisdom and love of life all our days.”  May you be comforted by the fact that death cannot take away the love, the memories, the faith! I do not want her to be the cardinal resting in the tree  I do not want to hear her in the whisper of the wind   I do not want to feel her in the soft drops of a summer rain  No, I want her here  I want her next to me at the coffee shop commenting on the reusable mugs  I want her walking under the umbrella reminiscing about her Mom  I want her in the theater, next to my daughter, humming Hamilton songs  I want to see her joy when Maddie’s hand is held in hers  I want her here  I want her here  I want to say “Megan?”  And hear her respond “Yes Aunt Meg?”  I want to hear her say her brother’s names, I want to see her shake her head over her Dad’s dad-like behavior   I want her here  And if I can’t have her here right next to me then I want her hanging out in a Vegan diner in Ohio or on a mountain top in Switzerland   But it doesn’t matter what I want  So I won’t look for her in the wind or in the clouds  No  I’ll look for her in the people she loved most   because if she loved you If you knew her  then you know having Megan in your life helped shape you into who you are and who you will be  For as long as I am here I will look for her in you  We will miss you forever Megan, Aunt Meg & Molly

I am finally willing to concede that Megan did NOT eat a hotdog at Wrigley Field after she began her vegetarian lifestyle, despite the rumors spread by my brothers and I for the last two decades that she had.
