Michael N. Giannelli

Michael was the beloved husband of Janet (Litrenti) Giannelli; loving father of Nicole Giannelli, Karly Giannelli and Erika (Jimmy) Barbaglia; cherished son of Theresa and the late Nicholas Giannelli; dear brother of Isabella Giannelli and devoted grandson of the late Joseph and Maria Balice and the late Isabella Giannelli.

Family was the most important thing to Michael even though he was always outnumbered by the women in his family. His mother and sister, his wife, and three daughters. Even their dog Luna, whom he loved like a fourth child. Michael was fondly known as “Mr. Fix-It” because he could fix anything. He always lent a helping hand, along with his considerable knowledge and expertise in all things technical and mechanical, to everyone who knew him and we will dearly miss his words of wisdom. He spent his life working hard to support his family at the machine shop he inherited from his father, Nitemco Tool & Die, until his health prevented him from continuing to work.

Michael was the recipient of a double lung transplant in 2005, and his family feels so blessed that he received that gift of life, and that they were able to celebrate the 17-year anniversary of his transplant with him this past April. Though Michael’s health was a constant struggle, his family is comforted knowing that he is in peace in heaven.

Visitation will be Monday, October 17, 2022 from 4-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, October 18 at 9:15 AM at the funeral home and proceed to St. James Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM.

Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
