Michael Nels Olson

Of Palatine

Michael Nels Olson was born March 26, 1969 in Chicago to James and Karolyn (nee Braun) Olson. He died August 28, 2021 at his home in Palatine.

Mike enjoyed playing baseball at Prospect high school and remained very close with many of his classmates. He worked for the Wheeling post office for 27 years, and gained many wonderful friends during this time as well. Mike loved watching horse racing, traveling, playing with his dog and sharing his corny dad jokes with friends and family. Above all else Mike loved his son Jeremy. The Pride he had for Jeremy was evident in the way he looked at him and bragged about his many accomplishments. To say that Mike will be missed is just not enough. He was caring, loving, funny, loyal and kind. To know Mike was to love him.

Mike is survived by his son Jeremy Olson; his siblings Jim (Deb) Olson and Kim Gibson; his former wife and dear friend Betty Davis-Olson; his nieces and nephews Kirsten (Mike) Pappas, Kerri Olson and Bradley Young and by many dear friends and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his sister in law Donna Olson; his nephew Erik Olson; his fiancé Cindy Buccelli; his step mother Sandi Olson and by his parents.

Memorial visitation will be Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 1:00 PM until the time of memorial service at 4:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Autism Speaks, 2700 South River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018 or Orphans of the Storm, 2200 Riverwoods Road, Deerfield, IL 60015.
