Ester, Nicholas, Michael,                                                                                      It is never easy to see a life pass. I am sorry for your loss. I first met your father, husband at the Skokie Post Office. I enjoyed working with him and remember what a dedicated employee he was. A good person, a good man. He was sincere, unsuposng, and honest. He worked hard always doing his best day after day. He had an admirable desire to do well. Life leaves us with many things and loss the same. I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Michael.  I am sorry for your loss.    Glenn Smith

Mr. Raia was a great leader and it was an honor to have had the opportunity to work with him.  A few of his characteristics were determination, accountability and excellence. This is evidence by his reporting to work during his illness, executing his duties as required and leading his team as he was duly sworn. He was truly an asset to the USPS and will be missed. Although I know it is never easy saying good-bye to a loved one, take comfort in knowing that he touched many lives along the way. One of my carriers told me the story about how Mr. Raia taught him how to properly take down the flag from the flag pole. Let's just say that this carrier ensures that whoever takes down the flag in his presence, does it with honor and respect. His life was a testiment to many. It was a pleasure the be one of the many. God bless you all.

Please accept my deepest condolences during your time of loss.   I worked with Mike for several years he was my Postmaster in Lake Zurich and trained me how to effectively run mail processing.  Many didn't understand his leadership style; however I was able to embrace it; my dad was a military guy with a strong presence.  Later in my career he became my Area Manager and his leadership style remained entact.  No one could say they were treating differently his consistent stance (excuses were unacceptable) remained until he rertired.  I'm thankful for the opportunity to have work with him.  Please know that he will be greatly missed!
